Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
